The Hunting Course is the superior layout at Slaley, and has been recognised for many years as an official PGA Tour venue, having hosted the Great North Open. Dave Thomas' design measures over 7,000 yards from the championship markers, and has some formidable holes. The course winds its way through towering trees and banks of beautiful rhododendrons, and golfers will be faced with many different challenges, where shaping the ball and being creative is certainly an advantage.
The signature hole of the resort is the Hunting's 9th, a tough par-4 where you must thread your drive between the monstrous trees on the right, and the meandering stream that skirts the left of the fairway. After a good tee shot, golfers are still left facing a long uphill approach shot to a severely sloping green, on what is one of the best par-4s around.

The Priestman is the second course at Slaley Hall, but it should not suffer an inferiority complex. Designed by PGA Chairman Neil Coles, this is a great addition to the resort, making it one of the few to have two genuine championship courses. Opened in 1989, the Priestman has matured into a tournament venue, with some superb holes, and also fantastic panoramic views across the Tyneside Valley.
Slaley Hall's extensive practice facilities offer visiting golfers the perfect chance for some tuition to sharpen up their skills.

Bars and restaurants we're really nice, food was really really good and the £35 food allowance was definitely enough per person; only had to put a couple pounds towards for a 3 course meal. Drink prices weren't too bad either. Spa has a good feeling to it but the hot tub, steam room and Sauna weren't massively hot so was slightly underwhelmed by spa. Rooms were okay but other QHotel rooms are better.

A lot of the course was under repair on the day, but we managed an enjoyable round. We have been there before when there was better weather and more holes were ready.

Enjoyed our round. Fair weather added to a good day. A variety of difficult, as the norm with the game.

Definitely the easier of the 2 courses, though a few hazards and water can cause issues if you're not strategic with your shot selection. The hunting is definitely the better designed of the 2 courses; but the priestman offers up unbelievable views and a friendly challenge for average and above golfers (played from yellows).

We played in winds of over 30mph at the beginning of April, but could tell the course would've been difficult (but still a fair challenge) without the wind and intermittent rain. The views from sections of the course were great and you could tell a round in the summer when all the trees have grown out would be exceptional. A real test (even from the yellow tees). Definitely the better of the 2 golf courses - though the priestman offered up sensational views of the surrounding countryside.

Not as good as the hunting course but perfect for a scramble after a few beers the night before !

Great course, would love to play this again in better conditions - the weather was extremely up and down. The greens could do with a little more care but I suppose it’s early on the season. All in all very nice course
