Mijas Golf Course is one of the most popular golf courses in the Costa del Sol. Located within easy reach of Fuengirola, with it's fantastic beaches, as well as the likes of Marbella and Malaga, a round of golf here is one that has become a habit for many since the 1970's.
The two golf courses at Mijas are well-regarded due to their playability and suitability for a range of handicaps. Whether you are a low-handicapper looking to challenge yourself or a mid-to-high handicapper seeking some wider fairways, you’ll be sure to find some great golf at Mjias.
With both courses enjoying little elevation, this makes a great resort experience for your golf holiday with buggies being optional, rather than compulsory. Short walks are enjoyed between tee boxes and greens, with flat terrain as the course meanders through established Olive trees and lake which bear the names of the golf courses at Mijas.

Inaugurated in 1976, Los Lagos is a quality resort golf course that allowed Mijas to steadily build its reputation after opening, and ultimately to expand with a second layout. As its name suggests, Los Lagos is endowed with a great deal of water - there are in fact nine lakes interspersed throughout, which present golfers with a continuous threat. Designer Robert Trent Jones Senior has created a course that is manageable for the average golfer, with relatively forgiving fairways, but one that will still challenge even the most skillful of players.
With little rough in play off the tee, golfers are encouraged to give it a whirl with the driver on most holes. However, with 9 lakes in play on the course, those keeping it on the fairway are most likely to challenge their handicap.
With Los Lagos benefiting from refurbishment and re-design in 2012, the course still feels very fresh to modern equipment. With views towards the surrounding mountains, a round of golf here is one that is sure to provide an enjoyable test. With more than 300 days of sunshine on offer in The Costa del Sol each year, it is hard to find anywhere else in Europe that can provide such a sunny golf holiday.
The course, combined with great practice facilities and a welcoming clubhouse, make Los Lagos a top golf course to play when visiting Fuengirola and the surrounding area.

The Los Olivos course was added to Mijas' resort in 1983, and has helped it grow into a fantastic all-encompassing golf destination. Although it was also the work of the esteemed Trent Jones Senior, it differs greatly in style to Los Lagos. There is less of a premium placed upon power - Los Olivos measures 6,384 yards - but it is crucial to be accurate to find the tree-lined fairways and small, undulating putting surfaces.
Los Olivos benefited from a re-design in 2001 to take the course forward and provide a stern test for both high and low handicappers alike. Expect a tighter test off the tee than Los Lagos and noticeably elevated greens which require the perfect distance to see a ball hold the green. With similarities from other well-established courses in the Costa del Sol, such as Torrequebrada and Miraflores, a round of golf here is one that has been enjoyed for decades and is sure to be enjoyed for many more in years to come, thanks to its loyal fanbase.
The great contrast between the two courses makes Mijas all the more charming, and helps to explain why it is among the elite golf resorts on the Costa del Sol. This, along with, great access to a host of excellent golf hotels and golf apartments, makes a golf trip here one of the most popular in Spain.

Greens lightning quick, good course, we voted it the best of the three we played, (for a 12 man trip), for a mix of handicaps from 3 to 18. Always like Mijas.

Better than expected course. Quite an open course but very long so good for all skill levels but good tee shots needed. Facilities were basic but ok
