The Meon Course is a regular feature on the European Seniors Tour, and is widely regarded as one of the best in the Southern counties. The 6,520 yard layout is Hampshire’s only European PGA Tour destination and is most memorable for the threatening water hazards, providing a good test for golfers of all abilities. The picturesque 12th may be the most impressive hole, a demanding downhill par-3 where the target is surrounded by water.

The Valley Course may only be a 9-hole setup, but the two loops together comprise a challenging par-70 that measures close to 6,000 yards. The picturesque course is built around a ruined Roman settlement and is maintained to the same standard as the neighbouring Meon, making it an enjoyable round for every golfer.
Meon Valley's practice centre has benefited from the recent addition of an excellent driving range, where the team of PGA professionals utilise the latest video technology for their tuition.

Bars were good but evening meal was a buffet style and only average. It felt like a canteen rather than an evening meal experience. They provided two bottles of wine as a gesture. Overall worst aspect of our stay was the evening meal.

Bar unfortunately run out of cider and beer, had to drink gin and tonics in pint glasses. Plus bar didn’t do any good at breakfast or lunch.

The rooms are as expected clean, roomy and comfortable. We arrived early 9.30am and there’s no facilities to get a coffee and bacon roll the bar opens at 11am we was told to wait outside bar til it opens.. dinner was buffet style wasn’t offered any service told we had to go round the corner to the bar to get drinks and bring them back. Lack of food and not replenished and barely warm. We had to order pizzas to be delivered. We will not be returning

I found the hotel to be very tired. Bedroom was very dusty and grubby. Breakfast was good but dinner was a buffet and poor. Starters were 2 options as was the dessert. Most disappointing was no drinks were offered.

Great venue, food service very poor. Had to wait till 11am to order hot rolls on arrival, no labels on evening meals, no sauces or gravy, very limited choice all round. No one to serve drinks from restaurant, have to fetch your own. Told by reception that breakfast was from 8.00 tiill 10.00, arrived at 9.05 to find doors closed, was advised to bang on door for entry. Food stopped cooking at 9.00, had to have whatever was remaining, as we're others. Staff and catering management in urgent need of serious overall and organisation, completely put a dampener on the stay. Was doing a recce for a golf society break, will not be recommending this venue.

We had a very good stay. The only thing that surprised us was breakfast finished at 9, I know what on the leaflet but I think it would have been worth being told at checking in as this is very early and caught 7 of us out (3 different groups)

Staff a bit dozy, Breakfast started at 7 with a tee time of 7.24 so no real breakfast!

First time staying at Meon Valley and all was really very good. The overall rating just slipped to 5 stars as it just felt that the hotel needed a bit of 'freshening up', though this may have been because it was near the end of the summer.

Rooms were spacious and clean although no housekeeping service so once the tea bag and milk has gone you have to look for your own replacements along with towels and bedding if your stay was longer than ours. No problem since it was only a two night stay. Bit odd for a hotel though. The bar didn’t have enough staff and our three course meal was a free for all in the bar area with practically no staff who were working flat out. The food arrived piecemeal so we were waiting for missing courses and had to go and find our own water in a jug and collect glasses. There were a few of us so it was all over the place. Queues at the bar were extensive for drinks, food etc but were dealt with very well by limited bar staff. Second night was in the restaurant and the food choices were limited to sloppy things like stews with rice and potatoes in Buffett style. Cake for sweet and a brown looking fruit salad. Worst bit of the stay. However having said this we are all aware of huge price hikes in hiring staff and it’s obvious it’s hammering hospitality. We would go back because it’s a nice place or it had been and times will change again, I hope.

Using a lot of very average winter mats. Shame buggies not in use. In good condition given the winter rain. Played harder second day in winds. A good course and looked after well by pro shop re our competitions .

Played both courses, excellent condition, great variety of holes. Played valley course twice to make up 18 holes. Course was a lot tighter but still great to play, again great variety of holes.

Unfortunately our 1st round was following a group of 20 ladies and it took just over 5 hours. Our second round was following the seniors but still did it in 4 1/4 hours. Scenery is stunning with so many beautiful old trees.

First time playing this course and I would have given it 5 stars for every aspect but the long hot summer and drought conditions meant that the fairways were very dry but the overall condition of the course outside of this was excellent.

The long dry summer has left all the fairways bone dry and rock hard. On the plus side the ball goes a long way. Our home course has fairway watering so it was a surprise to see how badly maintained this course is given it’s a selling point for a golf break. Not many golfers around so that could be why. Still love the course.
