Since its inauguration in 1945, Estoril has been the host of the national amateur championship on some 60 occasions, while the Mackenzie Ross designed layout has also welcomed the European Tour's finest for the Portuguese Open on 20 separate occasions. Some of golf's most famous names have graced Estoril's fairways, and presents a testing proposition in a beautiful location, bordered by eucalyptus, pine and mimosa trees.
The course and clubhouse allow visiting golfers to enjoy spectacular views over the Atlantic coastline, embellishing the experience of a round at Estoril.

This historic course badly needs course improvements. Instead the owners (Palacio Hotel Group) have constructed monstrous apartment block a few yards away opposite clubhouse which has depreciated the status of the golf which was always v short and bisected by a motorway. Barely fit to be considered as anything other than a holiday golf knock around now - it’s magic has gone

Horrendous time , when we arrived for a 10:45 am tee time they said our booking was not until 1:20pm. The caddy master fitted us in at 12:00 noon behind the members competition. The two members in front played from the whites. I do not exaggerate to say they were in their 90’s. It took forever. Our humour was not helped by the fact it was like playing through a building site with the construction of a block of a huge block of flats in the car park. So disappointing As a general point we were disappointed with the cost of buggies at all the courses ranging from 55 to 66 euros. The restaurant facilities were not available to us since the transport arranged only allowed for the round , no time even for a drink. All in all a very disappointing and expensive week.

Not an easy course but a chance to score well if thoughtful with positioning of shots. Greens were in superb condition
