Dingle Golf Links

With it situated on Dingle Peninsula, this is Europe's westernmost golfing venue. However, Dingle's remoteness is more than compensated by its rugged charm. From this outcrop you can see the whole of the peninsula, with its enchanting whitewashed fishing villages and imposing mountains.

Dingle Golf Links

Also visible are the towering Blasket Islands in the Atlantic, whose hardy population finally jumped ship for the mainland in 1953. Around the area there are many historical and archeological sites to experience, but they all pale in significance to the magnificent championship links golf course.

Every hole is individually created from the fantastic landscape, but all encompass the same sandy seaside turf. Expect no airs or graces at Dingle, this is one for the purists.

Hateful poorly maintained, converted farmer’s field. One surly chap to run the course, starting and clubhouse. We were stuck behind bag sharers also sharing a caddie so took 51/4 hours. The chap in the shop said it was wrong but could do nothing as he was ‘on his own’. He also said that the poor condition was only ‘my opinion’. True but daises on the tees with 3” long grass and uncut fairways spoke for themselves. Why this is on the visit list I will never understand. AVOID!!

A very natural golf course, the most westerly in GB & I. Quite quiet but we were made very welcome. Lots of challenges, particularly from the streams that run through the course, just where you don't want them! The clubhouse has a fine reputation and is apparently booked solid for evening meals. We had excellent snacks mid afternoon.
