Bowood Golf Resort is The PGA's Official Golf Course and Academy for the South West of England. From the medal tees, Bowood has hosted prestigious events, including PGA Challenge Tour Championships, however, Dave Thomas has installed a good range of tees to ensure that the higher handicapper will not be too daunted. The 7,309 yard, 72 par layout encompasses tricky dog-legs, water hazards and strategically positioned bunkers, which are sure to challenge even the most skilled visitors, while all are sure to enjoy the incredible surroundings.
Bowood's practice centre is the envy of many, featuring a 3-hole Academy course, putting greens and a floodlit, covered driving range, all of which are complemented by the dedicated team of fully qualified PGA professionals.

Hotel overall good but evening dining experience poor - service, side dishes missed, filet steak had to be sent back. However very good remedial action - items taken off bill and complimentary drinks offered

Good hotel; could be a lot better with a more joined-up approach between departments and better staff training. Food was good, service was frantic. Golf course in summer / dry weather would be very good; after or during wet weather, best to avoid. Spa is a bit of an afterthought given the size of the hotel. Overall, a great setting, not a bad hotel, just felt a little short-changed

Blessed with fabulous weather the course was in amazing condition. There were many pitch marks on some greens probably due to dry weather and neglect on players part to repair. Overall fantastic

Generally a good test. Greens are well kept and mostly consistent. Course was waterlogged and annoyingly lost a few balls plugged somewhere in fairways. Rough needs thinning out; anything not on the fairway / green is almost always a lost ball. In dry weather / summer, would play very well, and take no prisoners. After prolonged rain / during winter, it’s a slog and best avoided. Apparently no management of handicaps - the course is set up for PGA competitions, yet many 4-balls ahead of us were hacking around in 4.5-5 hours, with general golfing etiquette to match - we waited a lot….great setting though, sure a 2-ball twilight, mid-week in summer would be lovely
