Set in the heart of Worcestershire, The Abbey Hotel Golf & Spa enjoys a prime location in the Midlands, surrounded by acres of rolling countryside. It is the ideal spot for a short break for golfers across the UK. The resort is blessed with a completely reconfigured 18-hole parkland course, which is set to reopen in May 2026. The new Par 70 layout (approximately 6,000 yards from the yellow tees) features two exciting new signature Par 3 holes, six new tees, and a state-of-the-art irrigation system for pristine year-round greens and tees.

With water features on six holes, the course combines natural beauty with variety and strategy. Although slightly shorter in length than the previous layout, it remains a great challenge for all abilities, encouraging quicker play while still testing every club in your bag. The redesign is fully integrated within the existing footprint, preserving the course's mature character while adding a fresh, modernized feel that ensures a truly must-play experience.

The Abbey Golf & Country Club

From the championship pegs, Steel's creation measures a shade under 6,700 yards, making it a genuine test of ball-striking ability, but with hotel visitors in mind, there are tees to suit golfers of all abilities. The main obstacles en route to a good score are the mature trees that line the fairways, and the lakes which are all too ready to welcome wayward golf balls.

The Abbey Golf Course layout includes mature trees, lakes and on the whole the fairways are wide with the rough not too punishing, the picturesque 6th is a 200 yard drive from the medal tee with the green surrounded on three sides by the River Arrow. The 12th is a challenging uphill par-4 drive between two mature oak trees at 250 yards with the green concealed out of sight at the top of the hill.

The Abbey Hotel & Golf Resort has invested an additional £500,000 into its Inrange Driving Range, making it one of the most advanced practice and entertainment facilities in the UK. The new two-tier, floodlit range features 26 bays equipped with cutting-edge radar tracking. This technology provides golfers with real-time shot data and club distances, performance practice modes to accelerate improvement, and a variety of fun games and global competitions for groups of all skill levels.

Hotel isn’t that great the rooms NEED air con! The food was mediocre but the course and driving range were spot on! Would return to play again not stay. Thank you Chas for YGT for making everything easy and stress free.

Getting a little tired in places.. We had a group of 18 booked in for dinner and only one poor waitress serving us all.. we ended up waiting a fair while for food in-between courses... and the food was not the decent quality we would expect...perhaps a little lazy on menus. The staff were very friendly and apart from the 'below standard' and not staffed dinner they extremely smiley and fun and didn't feel we couldn't ask.. they were also happy to keep the bar flowing at the late hour which was greatly appreciated. Perhaps some larger tables in the bar area would be useful as a large group congregating in the small area was a little intrusive for others.

Hotel in lovely setting and rooms were spacious and well equipped although a bottle of water would be good. Restaurant dinner menu a little restricted but breakfast was excellent. All food tended to be slightly overcooked

Extremely poor greens. Such a great layout with some superb holes to navigate... to then reach a green that has no reception for a golf ball...the ball doesn't roll when you putt.. they are not rolled or cut properly and were very very disappointing.. I was told the course is decreasing in size soon so clearly the golf course is being left to disrepair.which I think..a little bit off when groups are still paying and playing... we probably would have looked elsewhere had we known. The Tees have not been managed at all in some time too which cosmetically was very displeasing and unfortunately this is not the quality of golf course we were looking for. Definitely will not be playing here again. Wheres the chipping green? As already said.. lovely setting but now just a 'cheap beginners course'

Tees were in a bad state of repair and needed watering. Course overall was in good condition with some challenging holes. Would be a long round without buggies due to several trails through housing developments. Buggies a bit on the costly side

Overall enjoyed the course. Through heavy use and dry weather tees and greens were not in great condition - however we would return

The course was the thing that let the place down. The greens were nothing short of terrible. Old holes weren't replaced properly and just had a load of sand chucked in. Cracks everywhere and different lengths of grass. Bobbly would be an understatement. Shame because has the potential to be a top course but has clearly been neglected. Playing out of bunkers like hitting off concrete as very little sand in them.

Course challenging but greens not good due to weather and no onecrepairing pitch marks but all guests enjoyed week end
